Welcome to Norwegian American Hospital’s Center for Health, Integrative Medicine and Education (CHIME). Our mission is to deliver a high quality, integrated health care and education resource program that is customer-focused, equitable, safe and cost-effective in a healing environment. In conjunction with other Norwegian American Hospital departments, CHIME provides complete integrated health care services that include current medical practices, as well as complementary alternative modalities. Our on-site interdisciplinary team of expert practitioners manages the patient’s health care needs. This comprehensive approach promotes prevention, optimal health and treatment.

Delivering the Right Modalities

Patients will benefit from the following products and services:

• Oriental Medicine Assessment and Care Plan: A comprehensive clinical examination, which involves an in-depth recording of the patient’s medical history. Once this is complete, a clinical pattern of disharmony is identified, and a care plan is established with the therapeutic goal to restore balance and health.

• Electroacupuncture: Incorporates the use of electrical stimulation with acupuncture in order to direct the electrical flow of the body to rebalance the energy, remove stagnation, alleviate pain and promote healing.

• Chinese Herbs and Dietary Supplements: Recommendation for herbal therapies is based on the client's needs.

• Therapeutic Massage: Involves the professional, skillful manipulation of the muscles and the connective tissues in order to enhance structural integration and soft tissue functions to promote relaxation and wellbeing.

• Reiki: An energy-based therapy, subtle and gentle, where the practitioner works as a channel for directing the universal life energy. This facilitates the body's healing power to provide a cure and restore balance.

• Nutritional Counseling: The client is advised on the proper selection of food, in the manner of oriental medicine, which addresses and supports current nutritional needs, and is vital to achieving balance for healing to take place.
