American Hospital offers the convenience of one-stop service and quality
care by a highly skilled medical team in the comfort and safety of a
hospital setting.
Your Personal Care Team
When you need surgery, our team of medical
specialists are committed to making your experience as convenient and
comfortable as possible. Our board certified physicians, registered nurses,
surgical technicians and all other medical professionals have many years of
experience here at Norwegian’s Surgical Department, and we demonstrate this
expertise by providing seamless and compassionate medical care every day.
Culturally Competent Care
The members of our staff speak several
languages, including English, Spanish, Tagalog, Korean and Polish. We also
have the ability to provide interpreter services for most major languages.
Before Your Surgery
Your physician will provide you with
complete instructions to prepare you for your procedure. DO NOT eat or drink
at least eight to 10 hours prior to your scheduled procedure.
You may preregister for
your procedure during the week prior to your appointment date.
Preregistration includes:
-
Filling out any
necessary forms with the help of our friendly staff from our Admitting
Department.
-
Undergoing any
required laboratory blood testing, radiology tests, and possibly an
electrocardiogram (EKG).
-
Discussing any
questions you may have about your procedure with our friendly staff.
-
A phone call from our
pretesting nurse to discuss pretesting instructions.
For any questions prior to surgery, please call 773-292-8396.
Please contact your physician directly
for questions pertaining to your procedure.
After Your Surgery
With 15 recovery beds conveniently located
in the same-day surgical unit, you can rest assured that the same helpful
staff you met before surgery will be available after the procedure to assist
you throughout the recovery process. Once in recovery, you can expect to go
home approximately one hour after your surgery.
It is best to have a ride home and someone to accompany you after your
surgery. We welcome questions from family members so that they may better
understand their roles as a
caregiver. After being discharged from Norwegian’s same-day surgical unit,
you will receive a follow-up phone call from our patient care team to check
on your progress and to answer any questions about your continued recovery.
How is a surgical procedure scheduled?

will arrange the reservation of your procedure.
