Women's Health Associates

Women’s Health Associates is formed by physicians who graduated from prestigious, local tertiary care centers including: Rush University Medical Center, the University of Chicago Hospitals, and the University of Illinois at Chicago. The Women’s Health Associates is a group that works together, as a team, to bring you the highest quality of health care in a warm and caring setting. As obstetricians and gynecologists, they are concerned with maintaining your health and providing care to all women in our community. The group offers the following services:

Family Birthing Center

Our professional and experienced staff of medical experts are here to care for your every maternal and child health care need. From the start, whether you are considering having a child or are already expecting, you will receive a wide range of services and care to assist you in experiencing a healthy, stress-free pregnancy. Your obstetrician, nurse-midwife, and the hospital staff are with you every step of the way.  A full program of medical services, such as a Special Care Nursery, midwife options, risk assessments and free childbirth preparation classes will ensure you have the most comfortable, safest pregnancy and labor possible.

when it is time

Our leading Family Birthing Center is fully prepared to assist any pregnancy from “normal” to multiple to high-risk with an expert neonatal team and intensive care unit. When the time comes, expecting mothers can deliver and recover in a soothing
home-like setting with wood furniture, a rocking chair, television and private bathroom.

when labor begins

Your physician and our childbirth preparation classes will help you learn the signs to look for when you go into labor. Our highly trained doctors and nurses will be available to you whenever you need them to answer your questions. We can ensure you that every step along the way, we will provide the education and information to answer all your pregnancy and/or labor questions.

Norwegian American Hospital has specialists available 24 hours a day, seven days a  week to take care of you and your baby. We also have a Special Care Nursery nearby, to tend to your baby’s every need.

Nurses are available to assist you, your baby and your family throughout your entire stay at Norwegian American Hospital. Once your baby is born, you and your baby are able to stay together in the Mother and Baby Unit.  You will receive one-on-one instructions from knowledgeable nurses and doctors on how to bathe, feed and care for your newborn. We want to make sure you are comfortable and confident, as a new mom, when you leave us!

The Midwife Associates of Norwegian American Hospital is a group of Certified Nurse-Midwives (CNM) who are licensed health care practitioners. They attend births in the hospital and provide personalized primary care to women for all stages including:

The Midwife Associates is a women-centered group that is based on the philosophy that health care should be safe and satisfying. Our Certified Nurse-Midwives work in collaboration with physicians to provide options for an individualized birth experience, along with offering support and encouragement during the labor and delivery process.

Family Medicine and Pediatrics

When you are not feeling well, a short drive to see your physician’s familiar face can be very comforting. To be ready for these situations and to have a partner working with you for your long-term health and wellness, it is a good idea to choose a primary care physician close to home. Our physicians offer counseling and education on smart health behaviors, manage and coordinate all of your care, and help you receive specialty and follow-up care in the following areas.
