Patient Testimonials

"I have been treated very well--better service cannot be provided. The staff is great. Dr. Kulekowskis and Dr. Valdez are very patient with their patients."   --Pablo Larios

"The N.A. W.C. has been an experience I will never forget. The staff is always full of love and laughter. I really enjoy coming to the clinic to be pampered by Tasha and Vanessa. But I can’t leave out anyone because they all have been good to me. Fran, Chris, Carolyn, Chad, James, Daniel, and Jorge and most importantly Dr. Kulekowskis and Dr. Valdes (la reina de el meringue). Thank you for your caring tenderness, your loving hearts and your healing hands. And thank you all for making my days brighter and for giving me renewed hope in my finding a curing solution to my foot problem." --Jimmy Viera

"I have no complaints regarding NAH wound clinic. I was being attended to at Rush Presbyterian Hospital; they could not heal me so they were sending me to another clinic. However, I had been told to come to NAH wound clinic by Ramon Soto. My cardiologist even told me to go where they were able to treat a diabetic patient with an open wound the right way. In my one and a one half months (1 ½) I have been treated with much respect and true caring and love. I would recommend anyone to come here. I love talking to Jorge who is very happy and a good hearted person." --Pedro Badillo

"My experience in the wound clinic has been great. Dr. Kulekowskis and the staff in the clinic have been very kind and supportive." --Donna Kuinius

"When I first came here to the wound clinic the staff and the Doctors treated me so nice. And I would recommend this clinic to any person I know because they did everything I expected them to do. They healed my wound real fast. And it is close to end of my treatment and I am going to miss all of them. May God bless them all."  --Adrianne McWane

"I have been coming here for about one year and I was treated with respect. I enjoyed coming and I think the wound clinic did a wonderful job with my care. I really like the staff and am grateful to them. Also the Doctors were wonderful to me. Thanks everybody for your help." --Enrique Prado

"The wound healing center has helped me with my wound. My wound is the type that has opened and closed constantly and it is called venous stasis ulcer and because of it I came to the wound center so the doctor and staff can take care of my wound. They helped me with my pain. They clean it, wash it, and put it in a bag with oxygen. Then afterwards they put cream and other medicine and wrap it up. Norwegian American Hospital has the best doctors and their staff in the wound healing center. They treat you with respect and kindness. They understand your pain. Thank you wound healing center." --Florinda Seise

"I have been coming to the wound center since the first week in March but this is my second time around. Although this time is longer, I have seen a steady improvement. The staff is all nice. I have never had a bad experience with any of them. The doctors work well as a team. When Dr. Valdes cuts away the bad skin you don’t feel her cutting away. Dr. Kulekowskis referred me to the wound clinic. She is a good doctor and she controlled the bleeding of my wound. I have been Dr. Kulekowskis' patient for a little over two years and I am happy with everything. I trust her judgment." --Everlean Lyke

"Everyone that works at the wound clinic helps me a lot. Everything is great so far. Jorge is kind and very funny. Tasha, Vanessa, Carline, Chris, Frances and Danny treat me well. Dr. Kulekowskis is the best doctor. What can I say but 'Todo Bien, Todo Bien'". --Carlos Torres

"I have been coming to the wound clinic for fourteen years off and on. And everything is great. I have been treated like a king. All the staff treats me like one of the family. I do not have any qualms with anyone. I feel that when other Norwegian American Hospital employees or Depts. find out that I come from the wound clinic, they include me in their family. I love Dr. Valdes and Dr. Kulekowskis. If it had not been for them I probably would have had my foot amputated up to my ankle." --Richard McSwain

"I came to the wound clinic in 2001 and everything was great then. Danny treated me well as he treated me back then. I have since been back since August of 2007, and I have only great things to say about Tasha and Dr. Kulekowskis. Let me go on to say that everyone is great. Everyone treats me with respect and love. The staff is always smiling and laughing. I recommend the NAH wound clinic to everyone I know." --Leonor Reyes

"It is Wednesday, June 18, 2208, 10:00 PM.  When you are asked to write about thing or somebody that you care so much about (especially something that is going to be published), it is very difficult and the more I thought about it the more I became afraid.  But when the subject is the Wound Clinic at Norwegian American Hospital it became very easy.  Let me tell you the first time that I walked into the Wound Clinic I noticed a CD player, playing music and the most unbelievable thing is that it was paying 'Salsa'.  For those that do not know about these things, salsa is a Latin rhythm (like salsa picante) and I said 'Cool, at least we won’t be bored while we wait to be taken care of.'  Then Danny said 'Good Morning, My name is Daniel. Welcome to the Wound Clinic.'  I just smiled because that sounded so incredible.  I never had been introduced to a staff of a clinic before.  I met all of the staff right there and then. And what a ride it has been.  There is an old saying: 'things happen for a reason,' and you know what, I am not saying that I am glad I got sick but if this did not happen to me I would not have met the nicest people that work at the Wound Clinic at Norwegian American Hospital in Chicago.  I would have never met two of the best lady Doctors (Dr. Valdes and Dr. Kulekowskis) like the two that we have at our clinic. So you see now it is MY clinic, too."

"I remember the time that my left leg literally exploded. It exploded like if you had smashed a watermelon against a wall.  I was bad!  I saw Dr.’s Valdes and Kulekowskis, looking at my leg and I saw the look on their faces (they were very concerned).  Once Dr. Valdes mentioned that I might need to be admitted.  But after a while both Doctors agreed to prescribe some antibiotics and try some new medicine on my wounds and wrap my leg.  I came back TWO days later and the wounds were incredible, they were much better. Besides the doctors I would like to mention all the others that take care of us.  Señora Christine (as I like to call her), Señora Chad, Carolyn, Tassa, Venessa, and the guys, Danny, Jorge and James, all of them know they have a very important mission in life.  That mission is taking care of us.  And we (the patients) could not ask for a kinder bunch of people.  As far as I am concerned you all are the greatest.  We are lucky at the wound Clinic to have you taking care of us everyday. Salud, Suerte y Mucho Amor para todos y que Dios me los Bendiga. Before I finish I would like to take this opportunity to especial say thanks to Frances for all the help that you gave me the day that I was admitted at the NAH.  God Bless you all.”  --Felix Velazquez

“I wish to express my appreciation for all the care throughout the years during my visits to the Wound Clinic.  Thanks to you for going the extra mile, to give me the best of care.  It’s very difficult to find a doctors and staff that you can be comfortable with and think of them as your extended family.  I can be confident that I will have good quality medical care when I need it.”  --Barbara Stephens

"When I first came to volunteer (July, 2007) and walked thru the Wound Center's door I was flabbergasted.  There was actually laughter coming from the patients.  Mind you these are patients that have wounds in all shapes, sizes and a range of pain from 0 thru 10++++.  You would have guessed that they were at a party. And the staff, wow, they were friendly, smiling, singing, and the thing that amazed me the most, is that they were actually helping each other, they were and are what I consider to be the DREAM TEAM.   When they say they are like a family, believe me they are.  They take you as you are and make you feel like you always belonged here.   I was sure that I had found my niche.  The Doctors (Valdes and Kulekowskis) are always willing to teach us and share their vast knowledge.  They are the core of this DREAM TEAM.  So to my new found family: Chad, Jorge, Danny, Caroline, Chris, Vanessa, Tasha, Doctora Valdes and Doctora Kulekowskis, I would like to say thank you for adopting me.  And to all of our patients, I say it has been a great pleasure to know each and every one of you.  And a much greater pleasure to see you graduate."   --Frances España
