In response to the need to provide medical support to the residents of Puerto Rico following the devastation of Hurricane Maria, Norwegian American Hospital and the National Association of Hispanic Nurses-Illinois Chapter, in collaboration with New Life Covenant Church, deployed a team of physicians and nurses to assist in a medical mission.
Dr. Samir Shahen, NAH hospitalist, Ana Favela, nurse manager of 2A, and Nannette Acevedo, ED nurse, left on Wednesday, November 8 and will return on November 15. Along with the team, NAH sent medication and medical supplies to treat anything from scrapes and bruises to the most acute care called for. Our staff demonstrates incredible caring and commitment to helping the people of Puerto Rico recover from one of the worst natural disasters in its history. We thank them for their time and dedication!
Please take a moment to view the photo album attached that illustrates in pictures the personal and medical impact these individuals are providing.
A special thank you to Amanda Bentine for capturing these photos.
