Norwegian American Hospital names new chief medical officer
CHICAGO – Norwegian American Hospital (NAH) named Dr. Jagdeep Singh as its new chief medical officer effective Dec. 13, 2018. Dr. Singh comes to Norwegian with extensive clinical and management expertise. Most recently, he served as chief medical officer (CMO) at West Houston Medical Center, in Texas, a 310-bed facility with a medical staff of approximately 7,000 physicians.
Dr. Singh has broad and in-depth knowledge of value-based health care and patient-centered population management and is experienced in working collaboratively with external parties for accreditation, compliance, reporting and investigating. He holds an MBA (master of business administration) – physician executive — from Auburn University, certification in medical management and board certification in family practice.
As chief medical officer at Norwegian, Dr. Singh will have oversight of clinical operations within the hospital, the Medical Staff office, Physician Strategy and Business Development and Medical Education, in addition to the NAH physicians, the chief nursing and chief information officers.
A graduate of the Government Medical College in Amritsar, India, Dr. Singh completed a family medicine residency at the Flower Hospital in Sylvania (Toledo), Ohio, and a fellowship in emergency medicine at the University of Tennessee in Memphis. In addition, he is board-certified in family medicine (ABFM), a certified physician executive with the American Association for Physician Leadership (CPE) and a fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives (FACHE).
Prior to serving as CMO for West Houston Medical Center, Dr. Singh was CMO of Piedmont Henry Hospital in Stockbridge, GA; vice president of medical affairs (VPMA) for the Fairview Southdale Hospital in Edina, Minn., and VPMA of the Catholic Health System in Buffalo, NY.
